Born to Salvadoran immigrant parents and raised in rural North Carolina, Ricky Hurtado is a former educator, nonprofit leader, and public servant committed to advancing education equity and Latino leadership. In 2018, he co-founded LatinxEd alongside Elaine Townsend Utin and has since served North Carolina through roles including NC House Representative for Alamance County, commissioner for My Future NC, and member of Governor Cooper’s DRIVE Task Force on education equity and teacher diversity. Ricky currently serves as a Program Officer at the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.
