Angela Maria Villamizar serves as LatinxEd’s 2026 SELI Fellow, bringing a deep commitment to bilingual education, culturally affirming teaching, and educational equity. A fifth-year doctoral candidate in Bilingual and Bicultural Education at the University of Texas at Austin, Angela has taught bilingual and monolingual students across elementary, secondary, and higher education settings in Texas and California. As the daughter of immigrants from Colombia and the Philippines, her research explores how bilingual identities are nurtured in schools and how care, culture, and advocacy can transform teaching and learning. Through her scholarship and leadership, Angela is committed to building education systems where multilingual students and educators can thrive.
